Environmental Resolutions, Inc. (ERI) was contracted by the Township of Mount Holly to perform a structural evaluation and an asbestos and mold investigation of an abandoned commercial building located at 30 High Street, Mt. Holly NJ. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine what structural deficiencies and/or environmental hazards were present in the building and how they should be addressed prior to future occupancy.
Based on the testing and investigation results, ERI determined that there were three (3) main areas of concern regarding the structural integrity of the building: The roof in the Northwest corner of the building was severely damaged by water intrusion from a leaking roofing system; the support columns located in the basement were questionable; and the front entrance landing was failing. As a result of the investigation, ERI also determined that a mold remediation plan must be created and implemented.
To handle repairs and plans efficiently, ERI will address identified issues in three (3) phases:
- Phase 1: roof repair
- Phase 2: mold remediation plan
- Phase 3: structural repairs
Phase 1 roof repair and inspection has been completed, leading to no more water intrusion from the roof. Phase 2 commenced with a general contractor removing and disposing of water damaged building materials with visible mold present.
