Environmental Resolutions, Inc. (ERI) provided engineering services related construction of a damaged section of sidewalk at the Pemberton ECC #1 Building in Pemberton, New Jersey
The Pemberton ECC #1 Building had a section of damaged sidewalk (Approximately 16’ x 80’) located at one of the rear entrances of the building. The sidewalk had experienced excessive cracking and was in dire need of replacement. Much of the sidewalk had begun to “heave”, so much so that two (2) of the doorways were unable to be opened.
ERI performed an initial investigation that included a topographical survey, geotechnical testing and soil borings, once the damaged concrete sidewalk was removed. The roof drains found underneath the sidewalk were examined for any damage and cracking. Soil conditions identified issues with poor soils and lack of infiltration. The design engineered solution was to provide a stone wick trench beneath the new sidewalk to prevent the it from heaving in the future.
ERI attended all meetings, provided construction management and inspection and coordinated with the Department of Community Affairs on this project.
